Going shooting at a "sniper range" in Da Nang, Vietnam
Now this is something that I never thought I would do here and I was surprised and a bit delighted to find out that a place like this even exists.
Before we get too excited you need to know that these were not real rifles, they are powerful pellet guns that you couldn't kill anyone with if they were to lie down on the ground in front of you and let you do it. But that doesn't mean it can't be fun, which it was.

I've shot real guns in my life and this was not at all like that, but it was kind of funny that the staff had precautions very similar to an actual gun range that I have been in, in the past. I don't have a problem with that because it is just a good rule of thumb to have gun safety whether the gun is dangerous or not. Putting the safety on, trigger finger control, and never "muzzling" anyone else are just good habits in a general sense. Getting hit with one of these pellets wouldn't kill you, but I am sure that it wouldn't feel very nice.

The mechanism that folds down to put a single pellet in was surprisingly difficult to open and perhaps this is what forms the pressure to make the pellet fly out with such force. I've used pellet guns in the past and this one was the most difficult to open that I have ever used.
The targets aren't that far away, but it was difficult enough to keep yourself steady while shooting. You get 10 shots per round and I though, rather incorrectly, that I would get 50 points or more.

My first match was rather shocking as I only manage d to get inside the inner area where you get 6-10 points a single time and 2 of my shots missed the board entirely.
My second round was slightly better, but still no where near the level that I thought I was capable of achieving.

I'm not going to try to blame the equipment here but I will say this, these pellet guns were HEAVY. I've held actual rifles that weighed less than this and this made it really difficult to hold the gun steady when you are pulling the trigger. According to my results I have a tendency to shoot down and to the right, even though I am not lining it up that way.
The guy I shot with did considerably better than I did.

Every single one of his was in the black, so I must need more practice but honestly, that is something I am unlikely to do.
This was a fun outing though and it was something that I can go and do that doesn't involve alcohol. They will not serve you alcohol on the "gun range" and I don't think they even had it for sale on premises at all. Maybe that is a law or something. I don't know. I didn't ask for a beverage at all because this was all over in about 30 minutes anyway.
There are prizes, but in order to get it you have to get 95 points or more with 10 shots. So that means you will have to hit dead center on 5 shots and get 9 on the other 5. I don't see that happening for me or anyone else honestly.
here is the location in Da Nang if you want to go and check it out. For one round it was less than $3, so you aren't going to break the bank by giving it a try.
