The Stranger Who Paid for My Mom’s Vegetables Turned Out to Be...
Last Tuesday, my mom went to the local market. She stood at the vegetable stall, counting coins from a tiny purse — turns out she was ₹20 short.
The seller was about to take a few items back when a guy behind her said, "I'll pay for it." My mom turned, smiled awkwardly, and thanked him. He insisted, “No worries, Aunty.”
She told me the story at dinner. I thought it was nice. The next morning, I tweeted it, just appreciating the guy's kindness.
3 hours later… my phone exploded.
People started tagging someone named “@theGreenBandit” — apparently a low-key local hero who helps strangers in public. He wears a green hoodie. Guess what? The guy who helped my mom was wearing green too.
Long story short — the tweet hit 1.2M likes, news channels picked it up, and two days later, the mystery guy DM’d me saying:
“Tell Aunty she forgot her chillies. 😄 –GB”
Now my mom’s calling him “her new son” and wants to invite him for lunch.
And yes, she’s carrying extra ₹20 now — “just in case the Green Bandit strikes again.” 😂
