in #vos-1yesterday
Who are you and why are you in the judges stage?

Greetings Steemians and happy weekend. My name is Oto-obong Akpan from Akwa Ibom State Nigeria, but my username is @arella1, contestant no. 4. I'm a young graduate from University of Uyo, where I studied chemistry. I'm also passionate about music and singing. I want to use this opportunity to say thank you @bossj23 for hosting this contest, I'm glad to participate in this, and also a very big thank you to steem kids and parents community for allowing this to take place. I'm currently in the judges stage because I passed the blind stage, I was happy I did!

What song did you choose and why did you choose the song? Tell us about the song and why it suits your voice.

I chose the song, "it is well with my soul"., It's a hymn and was written in 1873 by Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. I choose the hymn because of the crises and troubles I'm facing currently, it only reminds me of the promises of God and all I can is "it is well". This keep my hope alive.

Here is the lyrics: Though I only sang the first stanza because time was limited.

When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say

Chorus: It is well.... with my soul....
It is well, it is well with my soul

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul

Chorus: It is well.... with my soul....
It is well, it is well with my soul

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
And the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend
Even so, it is well with my soul

Chorus: It is well..... with my soul....
It is well, it is well with my soul

What's one thing you love about your voice when singing the song? Did you use the marking scheme to practice?

One thing I love about my voice when singing the song is the emotions the song carries, and the ability to flow with it without stress. When I started singing it, I wept, my voice cracked, I had to pause, drank some water, so that I can regain back my voice. I didn't use the marking scheme to practice, I actually started singing like every other contest, until I had to check the rules. I realised I had broken some of them, so I made adjustments and rehearsed just the way I was expected to.

Do you think your performance will take you to the next stage? Is there any judge you're afraid of?

I am hopeful that my performance will take me to the next stage. I have been rehearsing, and I can literally say that I have improved. I don't know any judge personally, so, I'm not afraid of anyone. I just hope to be favoured by all of them.

Thank you @bossj23 for the opportunity to be part of this. I take this time to congratulate my group members, @whitie
@us-andrew
@vicvine25
see you at the top.

Thank you my judges. @mostofajaman, @myrtle05, @afzalqamar and @whizzbro4eva
I hope I've been able to pass all the singing criteria for this stage.
