The lake ice broke up and drifted around this week. Went out kyacking with the ice and we managed to collect a wee bit of the ice to have with some Flor de Caña rum as a toast to warmer climes. After months of compression from the weight of the snow pack over winter the ice becomes quite faceted and fractures into amazing crystal shards. I will put up a post about the kyacking but here is a pic to give you an idea of what the lake looks like and where the ice came from.
The ice looks sweet in the photo. Just try not and think about all the fish pee and poop that was frozen in there that you slurped down. The alcohol should have killed it though right?
It’s a spring fed lake and all our drinking water comes from the lake . So we are used to it !
