Filipino| What Is Taya?

in #wikang-filipino7 years ago (edited)

The Filipino word taya could mean three different things.

Going out with friends or inviting friends out to eat, it is often followed with 'It's on me,' by the person inviting. In Filipino - 'Akong taya.' It let the others know it's your treat and you will be the one who's going to take care of the bill. 😉

Taya is also a root verb that means bet which involves risking money often in a competition such as races or games with monetary gains such as the lottery. Tumaya ako sa lotto is one good example and is in a past tense.

The tenses of verbs for taya
