Immortal wisdom: You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
Finding God is the greatest blessedness of man, and this happiness is not a matter of masks or appearances, but of a heart directed towards truth and wisdom. An example of this is the oracle of the prophet Jeremiah, when God through the prophet promises the chosen people prosperity and freedom after the captivity of Babylon: "For I know the plans I have for you, ´declares the LORD´, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.", Jeremiah 29:11-13.
God weighs hearts and it is through a new and renewed heart that God blesses us, the prophet Jeremias explains that the covenant with God is a covenant of love. This bears a strong resemblance to a teaching of the prophet Ezekiel: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you", Ezekiel 36:26. The book of Psalms reminds us: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.", Psalm 51:10
God is perfection itself and his qualities and gifts are perfections. But to receive the gifts we need to wish to receive them first. An example of this is King Solomon who receives in dreams the gifts of wisdom, knowledge and discernment; in resume, God makes the King immortal (Wisdom 8:17):
“At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, ´Ask for whatever you want me to give you.´
Solomon answered,...´So give your servant a heart that knows how to listen, to judge your people, and to discern between good and evil.´
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, ´Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked.I will give you a wise and understanding heart.´”,1 Kings 3:5-12; 2 Chronicles 1:7-12.
This is the conversion that God wants, draw near to God through mercy and he will draw near to you.
