Backup Server

Once again, a few weeks have passed. In addition to Curator July and weeks of vacation and summertime, a few infrastructure improvements were on the agenda.

I set up another server with all the necessary services to improve the reliability of my main domain and my main nodes.
Normally, the backup services are accessible under the domain steemnet.org, but they can also be used for moecki.online if necessary. This allows me to guarantee uninterrupted service on my domains in the event of failure, maintenance or backup.

The following nodes are running with backup now:

• full node (api.moecki.online),
• ah node (api.moecki.online),
• hivemind (api.moecki.online),
• jussi (api.moecki.online),
• condenser (steemit.moecki.online).

By the way, you can now set the condenser I host as the default "Steem Site" in Steemworld:

New Trending Algorithm

The new trending algorithm is still in the testing phase. A few weeks ago, I further reduced the influence of votes. Feel free to check the page from time to time. You are also welcome to write further suggestions in the comments.

Steemd

I am currently setting up another server as a remote development machine for work on steemd. Now that Justyy has progressed with the proposal to the point where compilation also works on Ubuntu24.04, some tests need to be carried out.

I have already compiled steemd with Ubuntu20.04 and Ubuntu22.04 and got it up and running. I haven't had time to do so for Ubuntu24.04 yet, but I will do so soon.

For further use, we need to ensure that steemd behaves as usual. Therefore, there will be a database comparison between the current version and the version compiled under Ubuntu24.04. The concept for this is ready. The implementation is planned as the next step.
