A Mushroom Joke.

If you think I'm telling you a joke about mushrooms, you're mistaken. The process of mushroom picking itself, its methods, and some of its dogmas are reminiscent of a joke.

For example, for a long time, picking or plucking mushrooms from the soil was considered sacrilege. Every mushroom picker, most of them armed with knives, made the forest look like a place where people strolled, their intentions often completely unclear.

This was due to the belief that plucking mushrooms damaged the integrity of the mycelium, and the presence of other mushroom pickers in the forest could always be detected by the presence of mushroom stumps, which indicated the location of the cut.

Then, someone decided that mushroom stumps could also damage the mycelium due to pathogenic putrefactive processes, and people stopped cutting them and began plucking them, or unscrewing them like bolts from the ground.

It seems like nothing funny, until you notice the mushrooms pulled out of the ground and discarded, which the pickers found suspicious or unfamiliar.

In such moments, people forget about the risks of damaging the forest's bioflora.

But the fact is, it's difficult to damage established mycelium unless you plow the forest clearings with a tractor.
