The Vanishing Room

In an old Victorian house on the outskirts of town, there was a room that no one could explain. The house had been built in the late 1800s, and over the years, several owners had come and gone, each reporting strange occurrences. The most puzzling of all was the vanishing room.
Local historian Maria, known for her skepticism, decided to investigate. She arrived at the house one gloomy afternoon, armed with a tape recorder and a notepad. The current owner, an elderly woman, had reported that one of the upstairs rooms would occasionally disappear, leaving a hole in the floor.

Maria was shown to the room in question. It was a small, neatly furnished space with a single bed and a dresser. As she took notes, she heard a faint creaking sound coming from the floor. The elderly woman had mentioned that the room would vanish when the house "was ready."
Suddenly, the floor beneath Maria began to tremble. She froze, her heart pounding. The creaking grew louder, and before she could react, the entire room simply vanished. Maria found herself standing on a beam, looking down into a dark, empty space where the room had been.
She screamed for help, but her voice echoed hollowly. The elderly woman, hearing the commotion, rushed upstairs. To her horror, she found Maria hanging precariously on the beam. With great effort, she pulled her to safety.
Maria never spoke of what she saw in the darkness below. The room reappeared the next day, as if nothing had happened. The house, it seemed, had kept its secret.
