Building a Balanced Deck: A Personal Journey

I start with a bunch of Hamlictrio and Magicpeng cards in my bag. The lightning tails and ice rocks on their bodies mean that they will attack quickly and mine reliably. I lay them out on the table and see what kind they are and what they're not good at. In my mind, the cute mouse and the brave penguin will work well together.

My collection gets full of new cards as the game goes on. One is an Evileye with a shiny glow that makes you sleepy. Another is an Onionmantis with green leaves that you can trust. These cards are on top of a row of rare Bullet and Thundercat cards and are ready to do more damage. How can Evileye's special skills help keep a team together while Bullet and Thundercat help? I like how the difference between rare and stylish cards is used to figure this out.

On the next pull, Thundercat is in charge of three fire shots. The bright loops on their bodies give them a lot of power. You can see a Cybergmong next to them. The monkey has bright circuit arms that have been made better by technology. It is sure to cause trouble. When the time is right, use Cybergmong's special power to get a hint about a plan for the middle of the game. Thundercat's lightning and Bullets' steady mining work well together.

As you go on, a legendary card Dolphan shows up along with Dra-Q and more Onionmantis and Hamlictrig cards.

The smooth blue wings of Dra-Q and the golden armor of Dolphan look great together. They seem like they would work well together—they are both very strong and can hit quickly. The other cards in the deck tell me that every deck needs a strong group of friends that you can count on.

There is one last spread that I talk about. It is mostly made up of Hamlictrig, Onionmantis, and Dra-Q.

Each card is different, so you need to put them all together in a way that makes sense to make a balanced deck. When I mix up a new deck or move a card around, I have fun again.
