Give Her Water, Give Her Dignity – Support a Mother in Uganda

Hello, dear Steemit community,

Today I bring you my campaign to help my mother restore hope at home. I come from a humble background, raised alongside eight siblings on a small plot of land whic is a reality many families in rural Uganda face.

Today, I’m reaching out not just as a creative, but as a son who wants to do something meaningful for the woman who raised me.

What This Campaign Is About

This is a personal call for support to help my mother, whose strength and sacrifices have carried our family through hard times. She currently walks over 2 kilometres every day to fetch water from a spring, a physically exhausting and risky journey, especially for an aging woman. As most of my siblings have gotten married and left home and my two remaining sisters are happily getting education support from @elkezaksek project.

On top of that, her kitchen that's built from mud and wood, is now on the verge of collapse. It’s unsafe and no longer a proper place for her to prepare meals.

My goal is to raise enough Steem through this post and others to:

Construct a rainwater harvesting tank at home to ease her burden

Build a safe, sturdy kitchen that will restore her dignity and comfort

Why I’m Asking for Help

Until last year, I worked in Queen Elizabeth National Park as a field guide and photographer. But a near-deadly encounter with a charging bull elephant forced me to reconsider my life’s direction. I left the job to protect my life and began focusing full-time on building a career through photography and eco-tourism.

While I’m passionate about my work and making progress slowly, finances have been tight. I continue to support my family, but the bigger needs — like this tank and kitchen — are beyond my current capacity.

That’s why I’m turning to this community that believes in empowering lives.
