Motion and Magic

I have never been one to stare at a mountain and collapse at the idea of climbing it. My brain just doesn’t go there. The thought of “impossible” has never sat comfortably with me. Maybe it’s because, even as a child, I learnt that there’s usually a way to untie or at least wiggle through a knot instead of wrestling with it until your hands burn.

Somewhere along the line I trained myself to see the straight line between A and B. Not a perfect line, mind you… life doesn’t really allow for that, but a path nonetheless. And once you start looking for it, you find it more often than not.

Dreams work in a similar way. If your mind has the audacity to picture it, then surely you are built with the capacity to create it? Why would imagination hand you the foundation for a castle if you were only ever meant to live in a tin shack? It doesn’t add up.

The only limits we carry are the ones we’ve stitched for ourselves. And honestly, I don’t know about you, but I’ve worn itchy clothes before… there’s no reason to keep them on.

Life isn’t a vending machine. You don’t push a button and voilà, your dreams tumble out neatly wrapped in foil. The world has a sense of humour (and sometimes it’s a bit sarcastic). Doors close, others crack open, people arrive, some leave, plans wobble, timelines stretch… and yet, if you keep your eyes on the thread of what you’re moving toward, you eventually get there. Maybe not on the path you mapped out… but on the one you actually needed.

I have noticed how quick we are to want everything right now. Same-day delivery, instant responses, microwave meals, love in five easy steps. The problem is, rushing exhaausts the magic. It robs us of the slow simmer where flavour builds. And dreams? They need simmering. They need trust, patience, and a refusal to let doubt hijack the recipe.

Doubt, to me, is like that neighbour who always has “constructive criticism” but somehow never waters their own plants. You can’t do anything about them, but you don’t have to let them redecorate your lounge either.

Children know this secret better than anyone. They want something… completely unreasonable sometimes… and they just… trust. They don’t know the how, but their belief is so fierce, so unbothered by the details, that the world often bends in their direction. We knew this once.

We’ve just forgotten. Somewhere between paying bills and making small talk about the weather, we stopped playing with the raw energy of possibility. We need to unlearn the heaviness and pick up that unfiltered faith again.

Imagination is not decoration. It’s instruction. Thought is the ancestor of action. And when thought shifts from scarcity to abundance, the shift is visible everywhere… from the way we carry ourselves, to the way opportunities start recognising us.

It doesn’t mean life suddenly rolls out a red carpet. It means you start walking with enough intent, and enough faith, that the ground beneath you begins to firm itself up. And that, to me, is magic in motion. The mountain isn’t the problem. It never was. The real challenge is remembering that you were born with the legs to climb, the eyes to see the view, and the heart to dare in the first place.
