Soul encounters you can't ignore.
"Our souls speak a language that is beyond human understanding. A connection so rare the universe won't let us part." - Nikki Rowe.
Some connections just impact your life and world differently. Yes, you meet all kinds of people all the time… in queues, at work, on the street, online. The sheer number is dizzying when you really stop to think about it. But every once in a while, very rarely, someone crosses your path and it is as if the usual barriers, the hellos and plastic pleasantries, the small talk… all of that rubbish, simply vanishes.
And no, it isn't about shared hobbies or similar tastes in music. It’s something far subtler, and beautifully profound. It is like meeting someone and realising, without explanation or effort, that you have always known them, from some time, somewhere along the “way”. Your conversation flows without effort, your silences feel relaxed, and in the moments shared with them, everything else in the world fades away into the distance. It is not really something you can pin down with words, because it doesn’t follow the normal rules of understanding.
I have noticed that these “soul level”connections don’t tend to happen with everyone. In fact, they are quite rare, but impossible to ignore, and utterly transformative. The people you meet in this way tend to be different somehow. They hold a story in their eyes and a depth in their presence which makes them unforgettable. Perhaps it is just the way in which life has shaped them. Outsiders in a world that doesn’t always know how to value them. Yet it’s precisely this which makes them completely magnetic.
There is also always a strange symmetry to these encounters. You find them when you need them most, when your life has corners too dark to navigate alone, when your spirit has forgotten how to stretch or breathe. These “encounters” push you, pull you, and challenge you. Not who you are at your most comfortable, but who you are when you dare to expand, to grow, to confront whatever lies in your path.
"There are connections, inexplicable by the laws of place and time." - Kate Morton
Soul connections are rare, but their purpose runs deep. They show us that no meeting is random. They open up dimensions of understanding and love that go beyond what we normally consider. They are a partnership of potential… each person reflecting the best of the other, challenging the other to rise, and holding space for one another’s evolution, even if it is only briefly. It is quite exhilarating to sit in even a momentary orbit with someone like this, realising that your own growth is intertwined with theirs on some level and that your journey is partially written in the resonance of their presence.
These connections demand honesty, courage, and vulnerability. They don’t exist to make life easier; they exist to make life richer, fuller, more real. They ask us to confront what we hide, to expand what we hold, and to completely embrace the possibility of becoming more than we ever imagined alone.
The people who leave these marks are the ones who remind us of the extraordinary potential of human connection. They are rare, yes, but they are proof that life is not merely a sequence of days, but rather, a lattice of encounters, each one embodying the power to awaken something truly magnificent deep within us. It reshapes your understanding of yourself and the world around you.
"A soul connection not only inspires us to expand, but also forces us to confront whatever stands in the way of that expansion." - John Welwood

Such connections are not only beautifully rare, but they also take a rare and beautiful soul to recognize, in the first place!
The other lovely thing (at least as I have experienced it!) is the way you can have an intense and deep connection and conversation... perhaps skip several months... and when you re-join, you pick back up like there was no break at all. It is truly magical.
In some way, perhaps it is the effortlessness of it that gives us the courage to be our very best selves because all that other "social convention garbage" we otherwise get wrapped up in drops away as unnecessary.
Love always,
xo
