Seated Woman - Concept Art Sktech
What I love about this phase of the process is its freedom. I don’t feel pressure to render details or finalize anatomy. Instead, I’m focusing on posture: the way the shoulders fall forward, the tilt of the head, the curve of the spine. These gestures help me understand how vulnerability, exhaustion, or introspection can be communicated visually. Sometimes, one slight shift in an elbow or the collapse of a ribcage tells the whole story.
Sketching like this is also a dialogue with the character. I try different poses to see what feels authentic to their inner state.
Eventually, one of these poses will strike the right chord. It might not be perfect, but it will have that spark, that resonance. That’s when I know I’ve found a direction worth pursuing in the next stages of the artwork.
