The Whispering Gold | Gold story contest
Greetings friends!
How are you all? I hope life is shining brightly just like gold today! I’m thrilled to present my story for the #goldstorycontest, hosted by @xpilar in collaboration with Musagold.com.
This story blends mystery, fantasy, and a hidden truth about the price of gold. I invite @inoxentkhan01 @hamzayousafzai and @sakeenazaffar to take part in this golden journey!
🌟 The Whispering Gold
Far beyond the dusty hills of Baloristan, nestled between forgotten valleys, there was a mysterious village named Shamsabad, a place where the sun shined brighter, and shadows whispered more than the wind ShamSabad had a legend a curse of gold a tale parents warned their chiLdren about, but no one reAlly believe.
The tale saId that under the old walnut tree at the edge of the forest, a man once found the heart of the Earth a golden idol buried dEep beNeath the soil. Not just any idol but one that spoke.
👣 My Journey Begins...
I was a 19-year-old history student named Zayan, driven by the thirst for stories that never made it to books. One summer, I visited Shamsabad after reading an old, burned journal found in my university’s archive. The last line read:
“Gold speaks… and it never forgets.”
I was hooked.
The villagers were kind but wary. When I asked about gold, they grew silent. One night, an old man named Malik Dar appeared at my doorstep. His eyes were golden… literally. They glowed faintly like embers.
He whispered, “You’re not the first. But you might be the last.”
He invited me to his home a mud hut surrounded by broken statues and faded relics Inside, it was glowing not from light, but from floatIng specks of gold dust that shimmered in mid aIr like fIreflies
Malik said,
“This gold, it’s not earned… it’s alive. It listens. It remembers.”
The Story of the Cursed Gold
Years ago, Malik was a merchant who discovered the golden idol during a trade expedition. He brought it home, thinking he’d become the richest man alive.
And he did.
Gold poured from walls. Anything he touched turned golden. But soon, the idol started whispering in ancient languages — languages he began to understand in dreams. At first, it was wisdom. Then, it was madness.
His family disappeared. He forgot his age. He forgot time. But the idol remembered.
Then he said the most terrifying words:
“Gold doesn’t love. It owns. It doesn’t sleep. It waits.”
He pointed to a chest in the corner.
“If you’re brave… open it.”
I did.
Inside was a heart — not made of flesh… but pure gold, beating slowly.
I stumbled back.
Malik said,
“That is my heart. It turned golden years ago. Now I am just its voice.”
The Decision
I asked, “Why are you showing me this?”
He replied with hollow eyes,
“Because it wants another voice. It’s hungry. And you… you listened.”
I had a choice — take the golden heart and become rich, immortal, and wise, or walk away and forget everything.
I chose to leave.
As I stepped outside, Malik smiled and whispered:
“You passed. The idol will sleep… for now.”
The Meaning Behind the Story
We all chase gold — in wealth, in fame, in desire.
But what if gold chased us back?
What if the very thing we loved… began to own us?
This story reminds us that not all treasure brings peace, and sometimes, the cost of gold is your soul.
📌 Huge thanks to @xpilar and @musagold for organizing this mind-opening contest.

welcome sir ❤️
Es cierto que no todo tesoro da paz, incluso puede ser al contrario. Sin embargo, un verdadero tesoro, lo será dependiendo de lo que significa para quien lo encuentra.
Gracias por participar en el concurso.
I find it interesting how each writer tries to link gold to mysterious events. But there's something about this story that catches my attention, and that is that it has a setting similar to the following story.
https://steemit.com/world-of-xpilar/@sakeenazaffar/contest-or-the-golden-secret-of-black-mountain-or
Before Alden could react a voice echoed from the shadows. "You’re not the first to come here."
But the ground beneath Alden didn’t collapse instead the walls glowed brighter revealing something far more valuable: sheets of gold etched with lost knowledge
"Wealth is not taken. It is earned."
Given other similarities, it would not be illogical to think that they developed the stories using the same ideas.
Dear Sir,
It may be true that there are simiLarities between my story and The one you mentIoned, but I would like to respectfully clarify a few thIngs
First of all, I have no connection whatsoever with @sakeenazaffar I don’t know who this person is, and I have never communicated with them In our Pashtoon society, even talking to girls is considered inappropriate, so any idea of collaboration is out of the question
Secondly, if you are assuming that both IDs belong to the same person or that we worked together on these posts, then I must humbly state that this is not true at all I created my post independently, without being influenced or supported by anyone else I respectfully request that before making such assumptions or comments, please consider the possible negative impact they can have on my post and reputation I hope for your understanding and fairness
Thank you very much.
Thank you @adeljose for pointing out the similarities btwn the stories. I want to clarify that I @sakeenazaffar originally crafted nd posted my story for the contest based entirely on my own creativity nd ideas. I did not copy or take inspiretion from anyone else if another writer has shared a similar concept their post would clearly show a later upload date. I have no connection or prior contact with this person nd was unaware of their work🤷🏻♀️
It’s not uncommon for adventure themed stories abt gold or hidden treasures to share certain tropes mysterious caves, glowing walls nd cryptic warnings are classic elements in such tales. However the Plot, Characters nd Execution of my story were uniquely my own. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding nd I Appreciate your attention to detail in noticing these themes!
