Pathways To A Happier Life
Every human desires happiness, yet a lot of people chase after it from where they may not even see it; like in material possessions, temporary pleasures, etc. It is true that these may bring momentary comfort, but not lasting joy. Adorably, there are some little things that some people overlook that can bring, not just happy moments, but lasting happiness. True happiness lies in striking a balance in life, which is built on timeless principles. We shall be taking a look at some of these principles that can create and maintain timeless happiness.

The first principle is about finding meaning and purpose in life. True happiness begins with having a reason to live, a reason to wake up each morning. When you live for purpose, you will begin to see yourself as part of a bigger picture. When you do what you are built to do, which is your purpose, it will give your life a meaning, and it will bring true happiness. A friend of mine who is a painter, gets so passionate about art that he would gather children in the neighbourhood, he would teach them art. This became a source of happiness for him. He now has an art exhibition center which he normally grants free tours for students to go see his arts. He is living in his purpose, and it gave meaning to his life and has sustained his happiness.
The next principle is the principle of gratitude and contentment. The truth is that you cannot have everything in the world, but you need to be grateful for the ones you have. More often than not, happiness is not a function of what you have, but how you see what you have. You may not even have the most of what you want, but what matters is that you are making the most of what you have. If you begin to think of what you have, you will learn to be grateful for them. There are things that you have that others are still wishing for, so remain appreciative. You may not have as much money as you need, but you have a good health, you sleep and wake up in peace, you should be grateful. When you begin to count your numerous blessings, you cannot but be happy.
The third principle is to build healthy relationships. It is worthy to note that no one is truly happy in an absolutely isolated state. Good relationship is part of the backbones of a happy life. It might be family, friends, acquaintances, community, etc, but have someone you share love with. This makes your life a better one, and you will know that you are part of something valuable. Learn to build bridges with good people, not burn them. There is a level of happiness that is achieved when you connect with people, spread love, and share kindness.

Another very important principle to consider is to keep growing and making progress. People who keep growing and making progress will generally be happier because they will find more fulfilment than people who are stagnant. You may not become all you want in a day, but there is a joy that comes when you know that you are making steady progress. In fact, it also helps you to build confidence and makes you to keep pushing through. When you set a goal of what you want to achieve, even if it is a small goal and you hit it, it will lift your spirit, motivate you more, and make you happier. When you push yourself to grow and to make more progress, you do not only learn and acquire more skills, but it gives you a sense of achievement. This brings happiness.
The last principle is to learn to balance various aspects of your life. In order to live and maintain a happy life, you have to learn to balance you spirit, mind, and body. Your work should not take 100% of your time, also create time for your private activities. Also learn to manage stress, know when to take a break and rest. Eat healthily, maintain properly healthy habits. Balance is a fundamental key of happiness. Do not do too much of what you should do too little, and do not do too little of what you should do too much. Remember that you are responsible for your happiness.
