Eid Stories

Well…
This is a last-minute post before I crash for the night.

Eid ul Adha.

Most of you probably know the drill by now. The qurbani, the endless photos of bakras (goats) and chatras (sheep). I’m sure the entire Muslim community has collectively cooked (literally and digitally) you with their posts by now, so I won’t go into details.

But these are a must… these are my two pookies.
Yes, Gen Z word. Yes, stolen shamelessly. They're both he's, but the bows? That’s all us she’s — couldn’t resist. Honestly though, they rocked the look. Might be gendered, might be aesthetic… we don’t ask. They’re just pookies, period.

Ok. Let's get over with sheep and talk khussas instead. Hihi

I had been endlessly scrolling through different websites for days, trying to find the perfect pairs. Pretty ones, not too blingy, something the girls would actually wear more than once. But everything was either overpriced or just… not it.

Then came the local bazaar plan.
Went in with low expectations, came out with two pairs each for the girls! Much cheaper than anything I saw online, and honestly? Just as beautiful. Hand-stitched details, nice colors, and they seem pretty durable too. So yes, I am super happy with my khussa shopping.

No mehndi for me this time. The girls got theirs and were busy showing off their hands. I didn’t even try. Time just flew by—as it always does on Eid. But it was the good kind of busy, full of little moments. So no regrets, really. Just happy to see everyone else enjoying.

In the end, it wasn’t about ticking every box.
It was about the warmth, the laughter, the last-minute khussa finds, the pookies in their bows, and the sweet, familiar taste of vermicelli. Yes, Eid is in the morning, but I like mine hot—and at least one of my children agrees. So I, no we, will be devouring them before retiring to bed.

A day before Eid, that passed in a blur, but left behind a quiet kind of joy.

And that, for me, is what Eid truly is.

Hope you all had a warm, messy, love-filled Eid. 🐏✨🌙
Goodnight from this sleepy soul :)))
