SLC26-W6 // "Cold Appetizers"

It's a pleasure to be among the participants in the last week of Steem Learning Challenge Season 26 where a new course ( cold appetizer) was introduced.

After paying attention to every detail of this course, I have learned the true meaning of appetizer, its types and when it can be served during a full course meal.

Moving forward to the main topic of the week, which is COLD APPETIZER, I will share my understanding on the topic, a clear preparation procedures of cold appetizer, my experience while making it and the cost ( expenses for each ingredient).

Understanding Cold Appetizers

This is simply a small dish that is served cold (chilled) before the main course meal in order to arouse appetite. Cold appetizers should be served cold, should be appealing, easy to handle ( bite-sized) and most importantly; it should be lightly flavourful. Cold appetizers are of different types; salads, fruit, cold meat and dips & spreads.

Recipe of Cold Appetizer

Using the recipe shared in class by the teacher, I will share a step-by-step preparation process of cold appetizer.

  • Egg
  • Bread
  • Mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • Black dried pepper
Preparation Procedures

I started by toasting the bread ( it was sliced to my desired size and shape). After toasting, I kept it aside to cool.

I washed and set my eggs to boil for 15 minutes after which I allowed to get cold and peel the shell out to make use of the flesh.

I sliced the egg white and yolk.

I added salt to the egg

I added dried black pepper to the chopped egg also.

I poured in the mayonnaise.

I stir continuously to get a good mixture.

I proceeded to spreading one tablespoon egg salad on each of the toasted bread.

In less than 20 minutes, my delicious cold appetizer ( egg salad and bread slice) was ready to be served in an attractive way.

Experience

I had the best experience making this recipe and No! I didn't face any difficult time preparing this cold appetizer. It was easy to make and less time consuming.
