SLC26-W6 // "Cold Appetizers"
Hello Teaching Team |
---|
Hello My Steemain Friends ,
Today I am writing about an interesting Steemit Engagement Challenge S26- W6: which is all time my favourite topic "Cold Appetizers" this amazing challenge organised by @suboohi .
What do you understand by Cold Appetizers? |
---|
Cold appetizers are dishes served as a starter before a meal, often serving as a snack. The best part is that they can be prepared in advance and eaten by the entire family. They come in many different ways and taste different. Because we can use vegetables, fruits, mayonnaise, dairy products, and dried fruits as per our preference, these dishes are generally enjoyed by everyone.
Make any one cold appetizer of your choice in detail ,step by step with pictures . You can add ingredients of your choice too |

Today, for a cold appetizer, I'm going to make my favorite dish: papdi chat
The ingredients we'll need to make Papdi Chaat are as follows:
Papdi
Yogurt
Tamarind
Potato Bhujia
White Peas
Spices
Salt
Pepper
Cumin Powder
Chaat Masala
Step 1

First, we soaked the white peas for three to four hours. Then, I started preparing the tamarind chutney. I added a little water and two to three teaspoons of sugar to the tamarind and brought it to a boil. Once it was well boiled, I turned off the heat and left it to cool.
Step 2

When the tamarind cooled, I mash it thoroughly, separate the pulp, and strain it to get a perfect tamarind chutney. Then, I put it on the stove, added a little sugar, a little red food coloring, and our chutney was ready. I put the peas to boil. Our peas were boiled and ready.
Step 3"
I mixed a little milk and water into the yogurt to create the perfect texture. I used ready-made papdi.
To make papdi, we need:
All-purpose flour (maida) 750g
Wheat flour (atta) 50g
Semolina (semolina) 25g
Oil for rolling
Mix the flour and semolina, add a little salt and oil, knead well, and let the dough rest. After a while, make small balls, roll them into the desired size, and fry them in oil. Our papdi is ready.

To serve, we split the papdi in the middle to fill the filling. First, we filled it with boiled peas. Once all the peas were filled, we added seasonings: salt, chili powder, cumin powder, and chaat masala. Then, we added yogurt and chutney. For the final presentation, we topped it with potato bhujia. This made our papdi chaat taste amazing, and we served it to everyone.
Our cold and crispy papdi chaat is ready.
Do you face any difficulty during making the recipe? |
---|
No, there's not much difficulty in making recipes like this. All the ingredients must be present, only then can we get the full flavor. A dish can be made with half the ingredients, but the taste remains incomplete. The only problem is that if we want to boil something, we need to boil it and keep it ready. However, for some ingredients, like the boiled peas I used, I need to soak them for 3 to 4 hours beforehand. After that, I boil them, and only then will they be perfect, so there's no such difficulty. If you plan ahead, "I want to make this," then we can start our work according to that time.
-What is the approximately cost of your cold appetizer. |
---|
The ingredients used in my recipe aren't very expensive, and they're easy to make and eat anytime, and most importantly, they taste amazing. This is a very easy recipe, requiring little money and effort.
The cost is as follows:
Ingredients | INR | Steem |
---|---|---|
White peas 100 grams | 10 | 1 |
Papri 10 pieces | 20 | 2 |
Yogurt 100 grams | 15 | 1.5 |
Tamarind 100 grams | 18 | 2 |
Aloo Bhujia 1 packet | 10 | 1 |
Total cost | 68 | 7.5 |
