Hello Everyone!!

I hope you all are good and doing well. Im here to be a part of this amazing course task SLC-S25/W1 | Community World Tour : Traditional Cuisine. Through this contest I read many recipes first time , it's s really interesting to get knowledge different cultural cuisine throughout the world.

For this contest I'm sharing Sooji ka halwa Or Samolina pudding. Its a part of cultural cuisine of Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. Its history is quite long in 13th century this recipe is travelled from Persia to india through Ottoman Empire.

In Pakistan Sooji ka Halwa is made on different occasions. In my family culture it is always made when a woman give birth a baby. For celebration this is made and distributed to other family members too.

On other occasions like on 15th Shaban its tradition in many Muslims community they made this halwa in large quantities for distribution.

In my family on weddings it is made in mayoo function with bbq. This is used as breakfast in our culture and often used as starting feed for infants of age 6 months. My childhood is passed eating this halwa . When i was a kid this halwa was a feast for me. I give salmonila pudding to my kids too . My son and youngest daughter loved it.

So there are many occasions when we specially made sooji k halwa.

Recipe Of Salmonila Pudding:

There are different recipes for making Sooji ka halwa, here I'm sharing that we use to make it.

Ingredients:

Ingredientsquantity
Desi ghee½ cup (solid form)
green cardamom3-4
Semolina¾ cup
sugar1 & ¼ cup
water3 cups
Food color½ tsp or as required
Kewra essence½ tsp
Dry fruitsas required (for garnishing)

Directions:

  • In pan, heat ghee and add green cardamom, sauté for a minute.

  • Add semolina and roast on medium low flame until color change and fragrant.

  • Add sugar and give it a good mix.
    Add water and food color, mix well, cover and cook on medium low flame for 3-4 minutes.

  • Add kewra essence and mix it. Cover and simmer for 1-2 minute.

  • Garnish with dry fruits. Sooji ka halwa is ready.

Wow so yummy 😋 🤤....... Wow, this is a very delicious and mouth-watering halwa. My mouth is watering after seeing it. Yes, semolina halwa is made on various occasions in Pakistan. Especially when there is a wedding or a child is born, it is made and distributed among the homes so that it is known that a child has been born in a particular house or there is a wedding. I also like semolina halwa and I often ask my mother to make it. My grandmother also used to make very delicious halwa. Your daughter Rahima also likes this halwa. Our children, who do not like dried fruits, can be fed by making such delicious dishes and adding dried fruits to them, which makes them eat them happily. I wish I tasteing it.
