"SLC-S25/W2 | Community World Tour: Festivals & Celebrations"
I was fortunate to grow up in an army barracks, which opened my eyes to several things about the life of a military, culture, tradition, and a lot more about the military. To date, my parents are still residing in one of the best military barracks in Nigeria.
In the military barracks across Nigeria, there is a popular festival celebration known as West African Soldiers Activities (WASA). The abbreviation for these activities is called WASA. The last West African Soldiers Activities that I experienced was the WASA of 245 Recce Battalion, Afi Barracks Ikom, Cross River State, Nigeria.
WASA is an annual Nigerian Army event that celebrates the end of a successful training year and the beginning of a new training year. It is a social gathering organised in a military barracks, where officers, soldiers, their families, and guests come together in a relaxed atmosphere to celebrate Nigeria's diverse cultural heritage. It is an activity that I like watching, how people showcase their culture.
The event and just like this one you have seen several pictures about, includes cultural displays where women are seen dancing and showcasing their culture. You know, army barracks are full of people who are from different ethnicities because it is a federal government area. During the activities, various activities like tug of war and games were displayed. The activities serve as an opportunity for people in the barracks to foster unity and strengthen their bond.
Cultural Significance:
The WASA event features cultural dances, music, and food from various Nigerian ethnic groups, which highlights the diverse heritage in Nigeria. Also in terms of tradition, it has its roots in the tradition of the West African frontier force, which is a very long-standing activity within the Nigerian army.

Purpose
The purpose of the activities is to allow the Nigerian Army to celebrate the end of a training year and the beginning of a new one, while also showcasing the very rich cultural diversity of Nigeria, which is one of the best countries in the world. Also, ensure the general public of the commitment of the army to national security and unity.

Saludos amigo.
Gran trabajo. Suerte
I think such celebration is done in most part of the world but given a different name. Thanks
