বাংলার হারিয়ে যাওয়া খেলাধুলা: লাঠিখেলা।।২৫ জুলাই ২০২৫
হ্যালো বন্ধুরা,
লাঠিখেলা বাংলার গ্রামীণ জীবনের সঙ্গে মিশে থাকা এক সময়ের গৌরবময় খেলা।একসময় গ্রামে গ্রামে আত্মরক্ষার জন্য তরুণদের প্রধান প্রশিক্ষণ ছিল এই লাঠিখেলা।সাধারণত শক্ত বাঁশ বা সেগুন কাঠের লাঠি দিয়ে এই খেলা হতো।খেলার আগে খেলোয়াড়রা মাটির মাঠ পরিষ্কার করে নিত, শরীরে সরষের তেল মেখে নিত যাতে আঘাত লাগলেও চোট কম লাগে।খেলার নিয়ম ছিল—দুই বা ততোধিক খেলোয়াড় মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়ে দ্রুত গতিতে লাঠি চালনা করবে, প্রতিপক্ষের আঘাতকে ঠেকিয়ে সুযোগমতো পাল্টা আঘাত করবে।
লাঠির আঘাত কোথায় লাগবে তা নিয়েও কিছু নিয়ম ছিল; কোমরের নীচে বা মাথায় আঘাত মারাটা সাধারণত নিষিদ্ধ ছিল।
এই খেলার সঙ্গে থাকত ঢাক, কাঁসরের তালে তালে উৎসবের আমেজ। মেলা, পুজো বা গ্রামীণ উৎসবে লাঠিখেলার আসর বসত এবং গ্রামের লোকজন ভিড় জমাতো।শুধু খেলা নয়, এটি ছিল আত্মরক্ষা শেখারও মাধ্যম। ডাকাতি বা অশান্ত সময়ে এই লাঠিয়ালরাই গ্রাম রক্ষা করত।বহু সময় জমিদারবাড়ি বা বড় পরিবার নিজেদের লাঠিয়াল দল রাখত।
ধীরে ধীরে শহুরে সভ্যতার প্রসার, অস্ত্রশস্ত্রের আধুনিকীকরণ এবং খেলার ধরনে পরিবর্তনের ফলে এই লাঠিখেলা প্রায় হারিয়ে গেছে।এখন কেবলমাত্র কিছু গ্রামীণ মেলায় বা লোকসংস্কৃতির উৎসবে এই খেলা প্রদর্শনী হিসেবে দেখা যায়।অথচ এই লাঠিখেলার মধ্যেই লুকিয়ে আছে শৃঙ্খলা, দলগত চেতনা, সাহসিকতা এবং বাংলার মাটির সঙ্গে এক অদৃশ্য যোগসূত্র।যদি এই খেলাকে পুনর্জীবিত করার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া যায়, তাহলে বাংলার লোকসংস্কৃতির এই হারিয়ে যাওয়া অধ্যায় আবারও প্রাণ ফিরে পেতে পারে।
