Don't Internalize It
So what can happen is that an autistic individual may absorb an experience and experience it as being a very traumatic event, whereas another person may go through the same thing, but they don't internalise it in the same.
And so we have kind of this kind of two things. What happens is that autistic individuals are more likely to actually be the victims of abuse and traumatic experiences, but they also tend to perceive events as more dramatic than the average person.
And so, you know, those things are just really important to keep in mind. I have to keep.I n mind when I'm working with individuals and when they're talking about, you know, a traumatic experience that happens to them and really kind of being able to take it in from their vantage point and their viewpoint and know that that might not necessarily be, you know, what other people's vantage point or viewpoint is.
So those are just some of the ways that trauma can overlap with autism, and I'd love to have some discussion around this. I think Josh has some questions. And tthenen Mystic, my friend, I know you werwhatahas s. But asking if we can do this as a topic for awhile. So I would definitely like to give you an opportunity to kind of share, you know, some of your experiences or. Share ,you know why you felt like this was an important topic to talk about, and so if Mystic, if you would like, I'd love to have you come up and welcome you to the space.
No obligation. Of course, we can go to Josh first if you'd prefer, but you haven't had a chance to speak yet, so I'd like to give you a chance if you'd like, my friend. Hello. Go ahead, Mystic.
🎉 Congratulations!
